Jobs boost for WexfordWEXFORD MAYOR Jim Allen heralded the arrival of Eishtec’s 250 jobs to town as “our greatest ever Christmas gift” today (Monday).

Cllr. Allen said: “I think Wexford will have a very merry New Year. Today is a great day for Wexford thanks to Eishtec. This will have an enormous effect on our local economy and on the future of Wexford as a digital hub. Today we take a small step in that direction.”

He said the fact a growing company like Eishtec had the faith and confidence to invest so much in Wexford speaks volumes for the direction the town is going in.

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, described Eishtec as one of Ireland’s most dynamic companies.

“Out of the ashes of Talk Talk arose a phoenix in Eishtec,” he said, praising the visionary leadership of its owners.

“The company is a model of whatIreland is trying to do. Eishtec has been really exceptional. It’s a 100 per cent export business. They hunt for opportunities.”

Min. Bruton acknowledged that the first wave of multi national skipped Co. Wexford, but stressed that Eishtec will have all the support it needs to succeed here.

Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Brendan Howlin said: “This is truly a wonderful day for Wexford. There aren’t too many days when you can announce 250 jobs. This is a company in a hurry. The jobs will be in situ by October and this company wants to start recruiting immediately. There will be ads in the local press.”

Min. Howlin stated that over 40 people will be employed by the New Year.

“This is not one of those idle announcements; there is business to be done. The premises will be transformed.”
