A SELECTION of operatic greats will be showcased as part of a new musical evening at the National Opera House.

The Wexford Proms 2016 will see Wexford Sinfonia and the Wexford Festival Singers teaming up under the guidance of conductor Fergus Sheil to present the evening of classics on February 6 at 8 p.m.

The audience will be treated to a selection of operatic classics from Puccini, Rossini and Verdi, with four outstanding soloists also taking part, amongst whom there are some familiar faces.

Soprano Rachel Croash and Mezzo Soprano Kate Allen both performed in the 2015 Wexford Festival Opera while baritone Gavin Ring, also a past festival performer, will return to the Opera House stage in April as Figaro in ‘The Barber of Seville’.

Tenor Jonathan Stoughton rounds off the cast. One of the UK’s leading young tenors, he has performed in Glyndebourne and the Royal Albert Hall.

Tickets are €20 and are available form the National Opera House.
