CAMPILE MAN, Tadhg Furlong, continued his history-making exploits in rugby at the weekend when he came on as a second-half replacement for the British & Irish Lions team against NZ Provincial Barbarians.

While the game itself was not the most exciting of events it did result in a victory for the Lions on a 7-13 scoreline.

Furlong’s appearance on the field marked yet another remarkable achievement for the former Horeswood footballer and stalwart of New Ross Rugby Club.

Now firmly established among the Irish senior squad ranks the Leinster club member is one of the most talked about rugby players on the contemporary scene.

He was one of only two debutants in the famous red jersey at the weekend with Iain Henderson being the other player stepping out for the Lions for the first time.

Furlong came on with around 30 minutes to go in the second half and as is customary at this stage made an immediate impact in the game.

All eyes in New Ross and across Wexford will be fixed on the TV screen over the next couple of weeks as people follow Furlong’s endeavours as the Lions tour progresses and they will be hoping, like him and the rest of the squad, for more victories to come.
